“Wow I am overwhelmed with these comments.. I’m having mixed emotions over here as I thought I wasn’t doing too bad for 42!
“This wizard surgeon is located in Tampa FL, Dr Adam Scheiner. I did a ton of research in my area. I was looking for a Oculplastic surgeon who specialized in laser for the bleph. His before and after photos were unlike ANY I saw previously. I’ll be honest and this was my one and only consult as his practice checked all of the boxes for me and everything felt just right during my visit. I sat in the waiting room with a woman from South Dakota and one from Australia, I knew he was doing something right to have people fly in.
“Doing the full face resurface was a decision that definitely exceeded the cost of what I was expecting to pay for my lids, sooo naturally, I opened a care credit account for the difference. Don’t tell my mom! Without my resurfacing, I think I would have been under or near the 10k in which is what I was planning for knowing that using laser and getting a specialized surgeon would just cost more. It’s my face, so definitely wasn’t price shopping.
“I had sutures in the creases of my upper lids, removed day 10, he also did a preventative canthoplasty. The incisions for the lower lids are behind my eyelid, with dissolvable sutures.
“I was under general anesthesia, about 3 hours, and felt close to zero pain when I woke up and for the duration in recovery.
“As for laser recovery… I came home looking like I was punched in the face 20 times. I missed the warning about that, wow. But again, not much pain at all, just swelling.. more of a discomfort and a time consuming and tedious recovery. Leaving the house was not an option for the first 11 days.
“I did have extremely blurry vision from day 2 till day 11. It’s still not perfect but I can read text now.
Still getting used to seeing my face and I’m told that the redness and swelling can six months to a year to subside.
“I think I answered most everyone’s questions. Thanks for the love reddit xo
Edit : missed a question, yes I feel an insane amount of skin tightening from the laser resurfacing.. no facelift was done. The doctor called it a skin reset and that this type of resurfacing is a procedure that is going to last decades. Neck was not done, laser resurfacing was feathered under chin.
“Edit : I shared these results for 2 reasons:
- When I was looking into blepharoplasty and on the fence for so so long, I knew this sort of b&a would have been helpful and encouraging. Plus I rarely see results like this posted so I thought modern technology should get some recognition.
- I’m a little put off on how different I look and was seeking a bit of validation that I made the right choice. Which obviously reddit came through and I appreciate that.
“As for cost, I have shared information that I am comfortable sharing. I will reiterate that I did not price shop, and I listed the doctor for those that feel surgeon choice and results are the most important factors when considering this procedure. I prefer not to state the actual cost for a few reasons. Mostly because it’s private and personal, and also I believe the surgeon deserves the respect to discuss what is needed to get the patient the result they want. For example , I had deep acne scarring, which required some additional laser time.”
